This Sunday is Palm Sunday. The day we celebrate Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. This was the day when His followers ruled. And fear in His enemies sent alarming trembles throughout their bodies. Jealously would lead them to crucify Him a few days later.
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week leading up to the resurrection of our Lord. Here in America, it has become just another week. What once was celebrated every day in church only gets attention on Sundays and maybe a Thursday evening service. For Christians this should be a time of reflection on our lives and on the country in which we live. Our country needs repentance and revival.
This Palm Sunday I chose Scripture from Isaiah 19:22 which reads;
22 And the Lord shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the Lord, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.
In this verse we see where the Lord smites Egypt and then heals it. You see, when we stray away in rebellion from God’s Word, His Law and His Commandments, He is always ready to take us back! America has rejected God. We are being punished and must repent before it is too late. God is merciful, but He also will allow us to drown in our own sins if we persist long enough.
This verse doesn’t speak of Jesus or His entry into Jerusalem, but it does speak of God’s unfailing love. When we repent from our sins and return to the Lord He heals us. Just as Jesus did on the cross. He didn’t die on the cross for His sins. He suffered and died for OUR SINS.
Jesus overcomes anything and everything we do. Good news for a nation that brutality murders innocent children, promotes perversion and worships idols. Even now, our sins can be forgiven just as 2nd Chronicles 7:14 says. IF We God’s people ……….
Pray for America to repent this Holy Week as you praise Jesus for His great sacrifice.
