The plan has worked. The evil in our world, who hates America, has succeeded. They have destroyed our foundation and we’ve allowed it to happen. We were warned to be on our guard, but we have failed. Our churches, pastors and, yes, even us who read this, have not heeded the warnings. David, in his psalms, told us to watch out for those who would seek to destroy our foundation.
“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Psalm 11:3
In 1799, during the infancy of our great nation, Jedidiah Morse (you may have heard of his son, Samuel, who invented the telegraph and Morse code) preached an insightful Election Sermon based on this passage.
Our dangers are of two kinds: those which affect our religion and those which affect our government. They are, however, so closely allied that they cannot, with propriety, be separated. The foundations which support the interest of Christianity, are also necessary to support a free and equal government like our own.
To the kindly influence of Christianity, we owe that degree of civil freedom, and political and social happiness—which mankind now enjoys. In proportion, as the genuine effects of Christianity are diminished in any nation, either through unbelief or the corruption of its doctrines, or the neglect of its institutions; in the same proportion will the people of that nation recede from the blessings of genuine freedom and approximate the miseries of complete despotism.
All efforts to destroy the foundations of our holy religion, ultimately tend to the subversion also of our political freedom and happiness. Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present republican forms of government, and all the blessings which flow from them, must fall with them. Read, The Amazing Morses: Sam and Jed.
From the beginning, our republic has been attacked. Until recently, we have been able to repel the attacks; but now is our darkest hour. Apathy and division are rampant; churches have lost their will to speak out in the community; pastors are limited by their IRS tax-exempt status! It always breaks my heart to hear a pastor say he can’t talk about certain topics. Do our pastors not realize Jesus is the head of the church, not the government? Christians act like mice, coming out of their holes to get some food and then darting back in. Mention politics or voting for a certain candidate in church and watch them scurry away!
Evil is winning in America; not because it is a greater power, but because Christian Americans do not use the power they have. Our Christian foundation is crumbling and God’s people are hiding in their holes. I say IT’S TIME for Christians to get involved in politics and government. The foundations are the same as our faith. IT’S TIME we put our faith in action. You can begin by signing my petition to allow me on the ballot on November 4th.
