America is a special nation. In that, there is no doubt. Throughout civilization, there has never been a nation which was as great as the United States of America. Detractors will say we are not perfect and that is true. No nation has ever been perfect. Even Israel, chosen by God, was (and is) not perfect. In fact, God even told them He chose them not because they were righteous, but to show His righteousness through them.
From the Garden of Eden to Adam made of barren soil, mankind was sent—to toil for our food. Then in the time of Moses, Israel was promised a land flowing with milk and honey. Centuries past, but God’s chosen people rebelled and lost their land. The land became barren and home for nomads. God was saving a wonderful land for a special purpose.
America was quietly resting, waiting it’s time to arise to prominence. A land with rich soil, abundant resources and flowing streams was safely hidden away from the budding civilizations of Europe, Africa and Asia. The Middle East was the cradle of civilization, but a land of splendor was ready for the proper time to be discovered.
Columbus discovered America by accident. This accident by humans allowed the land we now call home to be discovered. But this was no accident in the will of God. God has everything planned out. God sent Columbus and the adventurers that would follow, to populate a new land.
America was founded by those seeking prosperity and by those seeking freedom to worship God. We got both. The United States became a nation based on the love of God and the prosperity that can only come from a loving God. Protected by two great oceans, America remained isolated from the evil that spread across the globe. Until recently, that is. Now we are engulfed in widespread evil. From our bedrooms to the Oval Office; evil has infiltrated the very thread of freedom in America.
There is good news for those who trust in the Lord. God may be angry with us at the moment, but He is merciful. Our suffering will not last. America will not end being a great nation. For a short period, yes, we will be scoffed and disdained by the nations. Our debt is massive. The corruption is widespread. Rebellion against God is growing. However, our God is much larger and more powerful than any problem we face. There is no adversary God cannot defeat. God will hear our pleas. Our faith has wavered; but it is not broken. God’s people pray to Him for deliverance and He will keep His promise. Just as Samson’s strength returned to him as his hair grew long, America will regain our strength as the nations look elsewhere.
I have faith in America. More importantly, I have faith in the God who founded this nation. Our time to abide in Him has arrived. If you vote, then consider first whom God would want you to vote for. If you don’t vote, or are not registered, this is the time. As Ecclesiastes, chapter 3 says, “…there is a time for everything.” Your time to vote is November 4, 2014.
